Becky Hogg Embroidery kits celebrate the technique of metal thread work. With a combination of silk covered purls and fine metal wire threads the Green Woodpecker embroidery captures this beautiful bird with its vibrant lime and earthy moss greens.

The threads in Metal work embroidery are held on the surface of the fabric by a sewing thread, and depending on the type of metal it is either stitched over or through, like a bead. The application and finish of each thread creates a different texture to suit the style of the design whether it be smooth and shiny or layered and three dimensional.

Learn how to work with a variety of metal threads and try out stitches including couching, cutwork, applying silk covered plate and embellishing the design with looped purls and sequins.

Once finished, your Woodpecker can perch on a pre-cut wooden branch before being framed in the wooden hoop provided in the kit (11cm diameter).

Kit includes – Wooden hoop, linen,cotton backing fabric, cotton sewing threads, suede, silk covered metal threads,  metal purl threads, needles and instructions, beeswax, all packaged in a stylish hand screen printed gift box to keep everything safe.

This kit is suitable for all levels, but not advisable for children as it contains small parts.
