The Elephant Hawk-Moth (Deilephila elpenor) is so called because in the caterpillar stage it looks like an elephant’s trunk! As an adult this large moth is easily identified with it’s beautiful gold/mossy green and fuchsia pink colouration. It feeds on honeysuckle and other tubular flowers from May to early August.

The threads in Metal work embroidery are held on the surface of the fabric by a sewing thread, and depending on the type of metal it is either stitched over or through, like a bead.
