In this kit learn how to embroiderer a magnificent Lion in Metal Thread Embroidery. Inspired by the Lions depicted in 17th Century embroideries at Bath Holburne Museum, this design captures the creature in an exotic grassland.
This project includes stitches such as Couching, Cutwork and S’ing in an array of metals, in both the traditional golds and vibrant greens. The metal threads are subtly raised over layers of felt and soft cotton padding to add shadow and sheen to this jewel-like style of embroidery. In addition, a separate 3d leaf is applied, worked on cotton Organdie with a wired buttonhole edging.
All the metals are held in place on the surface of the fabric by a sewing thread and, depending on the type of metal, you either stitch through,or, over it. These methods enable much diversity in this style of embroidery.
Using the illustrated step by step booklet as well as photographic images, you will learn how to apply these traditional techniques to make a Lion design.
All the materials are carefully packaged in 100% recyclable bags and come in a brown card gift box (16.5cmWx23cmLx4.5cmD).
The finished Embroidery measures approximately 10.5x9cm and once complete can be mounted into the wooden hoop and hung with the ribbon (optional). The hoop is 13.5cm in diameter.
