In this kit you can make a cute Snow Bunting design in Metalwork hand embroidery over layers of craft felt padding.
Becky first came across the Snow Bunting feasting on seeds at an Alpine restaurant in the snowy mountains of Austria. On closer inspection she realised what pretty markings they had and how these would translate beautifully into embroidery. This is the latest design in Becky’s ‘creatures’ series.
The Snow Bunting is embroidered on grey Irish linen in over five Metalwork techniques including Or Nué (couching with colour), Cutwork, S’ing and Looped silk covered purls, all traditional skills in this impressive style of embroidery. The metal threads are in various colours in keeping with the bird, including shades of brown, cream, black and silver plated purl.
The design is finished off with white and silver plated sequins for an authentic snowy scene.
Clear illustrated instructions will guide you through this hand embroidery project. In addition you can find ‘the making of’ on Becky’s Instagram @beckyhoggembroidery.
The finished bird embroidery measures approximately 8x9cm, and the wooden hoop is 11cm diameter.
Once completed the embroidery can be mounted and hung in the little wooden hoop provided (optional). Picture frame not included.
